Marc Wagner was overlooked from the start and built his edge where others weren’t looking. Growing up in Pennsylvania, he fell in love with football at seven—but never fit the traditional mold. Lacking the size and speed coaches favored, he was consistently passed over for players who “looked the part,” despite having a deeper understanding of the game’s strategy and purpose. That disconnect sharpened his drive. While his playing career brought modest results, it laid the foundation for a lifelong obsession with the why behind performance—an insight he carried into a successful career as a Senior Engineering Manager, where pattern recognition, leadership, and systems thinking became second nature.
That perspective came full circle when Marc began coaching his son and saw the same blind spots repeating—raw talent prioritized over discipline, intelligence, and coachability. Determined to change that narrative, he launched his private 1:1 coaching business in 2017. Now based in Virginia Beach, he has become the #1 ranked private football coach in Virginia and Top 10 nationally, mentoring over 275 athletes from youth to college levels. Through his company, Read The Game, Marc champions a philosophy rooted in mastering both how and why—developing not just better players, but smarter, more adaptable competitors. His mission is clear: redefine what potential looks like and prove that the real difference-makers are often the ones others fail to see.
